Rain On The Mars
"And how much time is left mom?" Arthur asked in a impatient manner. "Just wait for a few minutes baby and then you will be able to see the magic." Arthur's mom replied while sowing the 'Instantaneous Seed' in the flower tub. It rained every five years on the planet Mars. After a long period it was supposed to rain again that day. In the absence of adequate rainfall and fertile soil plants couldn't grow on this planet. But after so many attempts, the scientists were effectual to produce fertile brown soil where the plants would grow so that the inhabitants of Mars would take natural oxygen. Not only that! The agriculturists became also successful in producing such a seed from where plant could grow instantaneously only once it got rain water. Then it would never need water in it's lifetime again. They named it 'Instantaneous Seed'. The soil and seeds were distributed equally among the inhabitants so that they would be able to have at least one plant in their house. 7 years old Arthur was sitting by the window with his mom Natsi. He couldn't remember the last time rainfall because he was very young at that time. He and his all friends only heard about the rain in the picture books and from their parents and teacher. So when they first heard that there would be real rain this time, there was no limit to their joy and excitement. Even they eagerly counted the days for this day. Finally it had come! It was around 11 a.m. The sunny sky was fading. Red clouds froze in the corners of the western sky and lightning flashed. Gradually the clouds took over the whole sky and it started raining in torrents. The thunder of the clouds, the flash of lightening, the incessant rain... all these mesmerized Arthur. He had drawn the pictures of rainfall with his imagination before. But he didn't know that it was so terribly beautiful. Leaving all his work, he sat there all day and watched the rain without blinking his eyes. He didn't move from there for a single time. Only after hearing his mother's reprimand at night somehow he finished his dinner and sat down again to watch the rain. He himself didn't know how long it lasted like this but at one point he fell asleep there. His mother woke him up in the next morning. Then he was surprised to see the calmness of this morning from Window. He had never experienced such a beautiful sunshine, cool breeze and enchanting scent from soil. There was no way to understand about previous day's stormy weather. Suddenly he remembered the seed sown by his mother. He ran towards the garden and his mother followed him. The sight was just strangely beautiful. Two small green leaves sprouted through the soil of the tub. A small red bud was present between them. They were glistening as the first rays of the sun fell on them. Mild breeze was shaking them smoothly. Arthur hugged his mother. Natsi was shedding tears in joy. At that moment a very beautiful and colourful winged insect entered in their garden and perched on the red bud. Arthur's mom cried in joy and wonder, " Baby it's a butterfly. Many years ago they lived here. But then no one else knew where they had gone. They were never seen again. Today, after so many years, they are back!" Arthur had nothing to speak. He had never dreamed of such beautiful surprises together. As soon as he reached for the butterfly with joy, it flew away in fear. His mother stopped him as he was about to run after her. "No baby, you shouldn't harm her. Look how pretty she is!" His mom said to him. "No, mom. I will only follow her to protect so that no one or nothing else can harm. May I go mom?" Arthur asked in a cheery manner. "Ok, Then you may go." His mom replied with a pleasant smile. After hearing this an emotional Arthur kissed her hand. Then he went to follow the butterfly.
