FADING AWAY

Burdwan, West Bengal

As the year fades away,
And old the night grows
An unexplained languishment
Is added to my woes.

Soft were her caresses,
Her lips, softer still
Fond memories, transient,
A sense of loss instill.

Used to feel her eyes on me
Whenever a glance she stole
Now where the swans sing their last
Despondent, I seek her soul.

The bleak sky rains agony
Lightning streaked with grey
Untamed whispers in the dark
Aim to keep me at bay

Life’s a vain dream today,
A car door left ajar,
A broken mirror reflecting
The empty journey so far.
